Wee, so I am a dork, not only do I have an Xbox 360, a PS3, a PSP Slim and Lite, but I am now about to purchase a Nintendo DS Lite..in Black,...natch.

Through the wonders of Kijiji, I am getting it for $115 including a carrying case, charger and Zelda Phantom Hourglass.

So I already have more games then I can possibly play...but I must get the following for the DS:

-The World Ends with you
-New Super Mario Bros
-Sonic Dark Brotherhood
-Final Fantasy Tactics A2
-Proffesor Layton

Anything else??

I am a huge fan of Burnout Paradise, in particular the extensive and free expansions we are seeing for the game, in particular the Cagney Pack and the Burnout Bikes (Davis)pack.

The one feature that I have been waiting for is the addition of trophies, well it is finally live today! Some really cool trophies and a boatload of them too boot.

The only issue? They are not retroactive...sigh...you need a new saved game to use trophies, and looking at the list I have unlocked 25 trophies...at least....

Oh well, I have not tried the Bikes pack yet, here is an excuse to dig back in again with a passion.

Damn! I never fell for the iPhone hype as I knew the phone would be crippled by Apples desire to control every aspect and it's reliance on the iTunes service (which I hate with a passion, DRM is evil).

Google just announced the T-Mobile G1 phone and I have to say it looks sweet...more open source, a full keyboard and touch screen. If it ever comes to Canada I think I am hooked.

Screen
The G1 sports a 3.17" 65K colour touchscreen that runs in HVGA (480×320) resolution.

Battery Life
You can talk for 5 hours, or keep the phone in standby for 130 hours.

Camera
3.1MP, or right around 35mm 4x6 print quality.

Frequency Fun
GSM/GPRS/EDGE/Wi-Fi and UMTS/HSDPA
850/900/1700/1800/1900/2100Mhz

Dimensions
11.7 x 5.49 x 1.6 cm; Weight: 159 grams. And available in white, black and brown.

Storage
1GB MicroSD card preinstalled. Supports 8GB MicroSD.

GPS
Of course, what would Google Maps be without it?

Google Maps
As we've seen in a recent update, the G1's Maps application will integrate Street View so you can see where you are going. But in an industry first, a built-in compass orients the map to your position. North is always up!

Android Market
Similar to the iPhone's mobile App Store, the Android Market will allow downloading of various Android apps from the phone, to the phone.

Amazon MP3 Store
Amazon's MP3 store will be preloaded on every G1, allowing the download of 6 million DRM-free tracks with singles starting at 89 cents. Downloading music requires a Wi-Fi connection, previewing can be done over T-Mobile's network.

YouTube
Yup, it's on there.

Other Apps
ShopSavvy: designed to help people do comparative shopping
Ecorio: developed to help people keep track of their daily travels and view what their carbon footprint looks like
BreadCrumbz: enables people to create a step-by-step visual map using photos; customers can create their own routes, share them with friends or with the world

Lego Batman comes out today and am I ever looking forward to it. I have a 7 year old son (let's call him Mini-J) and he is a huge Batman, Lego and the videogame lego series fan.

He (on his own) has finished Lego Star Wars 1 & 2 (unlocked all characters manually, no cheats) as well as Lego Indiana Jones. I love these games for their co-op, their simple yet deep gameplay and the pure charm.

Plus I am a monster huge Batman fan, seriously, ask me anything about Batman (comics or movies) and I have it covered.

Impressions in the next day or so.

I am playing through Mercenaries 2 so I can complete a review for Blogcritics and in general I am enjoying the game. The graphics are both breathtaking and craptacular at times, but everything (and I mean everything) can be blowed up and that is awesome...sorry...Awesome (with a capital A).

But what is MUCH more impressive is the drop in/out co-op. Yes we have had that before...wait NO we haven't. While playing through my SINGLE player campaign I accepted a mission and 'bloop' someone joined my game, we completed the mission, both got paid...'bloop' he left the game. I was stunned, this was a true breakthrough in gaming, no extra setup, no invites (although you can do that), just people joining and helping.

I gotta say it was awesome...check Blogcritics in the near future for the full review!

Dear fing God I love everything I have seen from C&C Red Alert 3. Small things even like them delaying George Takei's speech from his lip movements to look like he is dubbing himself to bigger things like the awesome cast they have assembled.

This video just clinched day 1 purchase status for me:

Kay, so I am writing a preview and reviews for the upcoming season of Dexter. And sweet baby Jesus is this a fantastic show. I have four episodes and I have smiled, laughed, been nervous, tense as hell, expectant and appalled.

This is some of the best TV around and shows like this, Weeds and Californication are helping Showtime give HBO a run for its money.

Jeebus I love what I do.

Keep your eyes peeled to the blogcritics site for the preview and reviews posted the morning after the episodes air.

So Rock Band 2 has come out for the Xbox 360, it isn't coming out for the PS3 till Oct. 19th for the PS3. That hurts, but I think I will get the 360 version anyway because I have more friends on Live to play it with then on PSN. My big dilemma is what rhythm game bundle to buy as I don't own Rock Band 1 yet. The Guitar Hero: World Tour set seems to have superior drums and I like the GH guitar better (last gens at least).

My plan is to buy the better set (based on drums) and then just buy the disc version of the other game. So do I wait till Oct. 26th and buy Guitar Hero: World Tour or buy Rock Band 2 right now? Decisions, decisions....

Wow, just happened to be in Rogers Video (think cable company video store if you are in another country then Canada) and I found crazy good deals on some quality PSP games.

Sid Meiers Pirates! for $10.79 - WOOT! Have been looking at this for a while and could not find it used at EB games...

Huzzah!!! After what seems like an eternity of waiting Wipeout HD is being released September 25th! Next week! Can I get a what what!!

Not only does this game support full 1080p drop dead gorgeous visuals, amazing music, trophies and in game music it is the ludicrously low price of $20! Yes the cost of two trips to the local chinese buffet (yes the one with the amazing and horrible for you deep fried won tons in garlic sauce) you can own this awesome title.
  • Full HD Visuals
  • 5 Game Modes - Single Race, Tournament, Time Trial, Speed Lap and Zone Mode
  • Online play that supports up to 8 racers competing on a track at a time
  • 2-player split screen (horizontally and vertically) offline
  • 8 reversible tracks and 12 teams
  • Optional use of SIXAXIS motion controls to steer your ship
  • A great soundtrack remixed in Dolby 5.1 AND the option for custom playlists that allow you to race to whatever playlists you have on your HDD
  • And more, including Trophy support
Let's take the SUXAXIS support off the list and that is pure gold (writing SUXAXIS was a typo, but it works so I left it). Seriously, one of the best things about Wipeout is the music if you are a techno/electronica fan (like moi!) and hearing it in Dolby 5.1...glee!

Check out the image and video, this is a must have!

Okay, any other game but the one called World of Warcraft would have called the upcoming patch a .5 or a .0 like 3.5 or 4.0, but no, this is patch 3.02! .02 for gimminys sake! Seriously, rebuild of the talent tree, stormwind harbour, achievements, sweeping improvements to all the classes (including some tasty ones for my hunter).

People wonder why WoW is the king and why it is impossible to compete with them unless you are Blizzard. Incremental patches like this point to the GIANT dedicated team they have working on the game. It's no wonder they have stated publicly that WoW's success is a lot of work!
